Miniatures continue to be one of the most popular ways to elevate the table presence of a board game. The details on the plastic figures add 3-dimensionality, clarity, and atmosphere to the table. Whether your world is filled with dragons, alien fleets, tactical soldiers or stylized heroes, miniatures help players connect with the story in a physical way. At Boda Games, we work closely with publishers to turn their concepts into high quality pieces that feel right at home in the game. Making miniatures can seem complex at first. Our production teams guide you step by step, from sculpt approval to tooling to mass production.

Sculpting, preparation and sampling
Every miniature begins with a 3d model. We receive the 3D files from the customer and review everything to ensure it is suitable for injection molding. This review includes things such as checking wall thickness, undercuts, draft angles, and other details that affect moldability. Once the files are approved, we create a PU sample. This sample allows you to review all aspects like size, pose and surface detail before we proceed to making the mass production molds. This also allows us to make any necessary changes before we launch the production molds. Clear communication during this stage ensures the final miniature matches your expectations.
Materials
Most miniatures are produced using PVC or ABS, depending on the desired level of flexibility and detail. Boda Games will evaluate the sculpts and help find the right material and hardness for the design. After molding, parts are cleaned, inspected and prepared for finishing.

For painted miniatures, we follow your color schemes and painting guides to produce accurate master samples. These become our reference for every production batch. Our quality team performs regular checks on color matching, assembly, surface finish and overall consistency.
Mass production molds

Miniatures are produced using steel molds designed specifically for injection molding. These molds are engineered to balance durability, cycle time, part flow, and fine detail. Depending on the number of unique figures in your game, we optimize to combine as many sculpts into a mold, to minimize the amount of molds needed and save costs. Once the mold design is approved, we will always begin with test shots. These early production samples show real tooling results and allow you to check detail preservation, seam placement and material quality before we start full production.
Assembly
Not all miniatures are a single piece. Larger or more dynamic sculpts may require multiple parts to be molded separately and glued and assembled during production. Boda Games reviews each sculpt to determine the best part split for stability, pose accuracy and moldability. Keying, fit tolerances and glue points are carefully planned so the final miniature is sturdy and visually seamless. If the model requires bases, accessories or modular pieces, we can integrate these directly into the mold design.

Packaging
Miniatures must arrive in perfect condition. That means designing suitable trays, blisters or dedicated compartments in the plastic or paper inlay. We evaluate the size, pose and fragility of each miniature to create packaging that holds it securely during transport and storage. This also affects the overall box layout and the unboxing experience. When miniatures have special finishes or painted surfaces, we take extra steps to protect them from abrasion. By planning packaging together with the miniatures, we ensure your figures look great the moment players open the box.
