Boda Games’ Sustainability

We have already integrated a number of sustainable practices into our production processes. These include using FSC-certified or responsibly sourced papers and boards, offering recycled or partially recycled cardboard options, and expanding paper-based inserts as alternatives to traditional plastic trays. Our printing uses soy-based inks and water-based coatings wherever possible to reduce the reliance on harsh chemicals.
We also work to minimize waste by optimizing layouts, reducing unnecessary packaging, and helping publishers design products that use materials more efficiently. When suitable, we offer plastic-free or reduced-plastic packaging solutions to help lower the environmental impact of a project.

Certified sustainability

We take pride in backing our sustainability efforts with certified, verifiable systems. Boda Games is 100% FSC certified for all wood- and paper-based materials, ensuring responsible forestry and traceability throughout our supply chain. Our textiles and fabric components meet Oeko-Tex standards for safety and environmental responsibility. For printing, we offer soy-based inks as an alternative to petroleum-based options, delivering vibrant color with a smaller ecological footprint. Inside our factory, waste materials are already collected and recycled, and our punchboards are produced using recycled paperboard. These practices help us reduce waste while maintaining high-quality production standards.

Room for improvement

We recognize that sustainability is a journey, and we treat it as an ongoing process rather than a checklist. We’re continuously exploring new material options, especially in areas where reducing plastic use is challenging, such as certain types of inserts or small accessories. We are assessing more paper-based or recycled alternatives and expanding eco-friendly packaging choices to give publishers additional ways to reduce plastic.
Beyond materials, we are also working to improve energy efficiency, streamline logistics to reduce unnecessary shipments, and explore new production methods that generate less waste. As the industry evolves, we aim to evolve with it, staying open to innovations and seeking out improvements that help make our manufacturing more sustainable.
