Plushies design guide

How to Prepare Your Plushie Design File
Creating a plushie is an exciting process, but to ensure the best possible outcome, it’s important to provide a clear and complete design file. Here’s what to include:
1. Front, Rear, and Side Views of Your Design
To accurately capture your vision, include clean, straightforward drawings that show the front, back, and side views of your plushie. Simplified designs typically work best for plush production, as overly complex shapes or intricate details can be challenging to replicate in fabric. Remember, your plushie should be both visually appealing and structurally feasible.
2. Dimensions
Accurate measurements are crucial for achieving the correct proportions. Include the overall height, width, and thickness (in millimeters) of your plushie, as well as the size of key features like arms, legs, or accessories. If your plushie has unique shapes or irregular proportions, provide as much dimensional detail as possible.
3. Pantone Codes for Desired Colors
Colors can vary significantly depending on fabric and lighting, so providing precise Pantone color codes is essential. This ensures the final product closely matches the hues in your original design. If you don’t have specific Pantone codes in mind, consider using a color reference guide or consult with your manufacturer for recommendations.
4. Material Preferences
The fabric you choose greatly affects the final look and feel of your plushie. Popular options include soft, plush textures like minky, felt for a more classic feel, or even specialty fabrics like velvet or corduroy for a unique touch. Be sure to specify if certain parts require different textures or if you have a preferred material for specific elements like ears, paws, or eyes.
5. Special Features or Details
If your plushie design includes unique features like embroidery, movable parts, removable accessories, or special stitching, clearly label these in your design file. For example, note if a tail should be detachable, if the eyes should have a glossy finish, or if certain parts should include reinforced stitching for durability. Providing photos or sketches of similar elements from existing plushies can also be helpful.
